The Stewart Parker Designer Showhouse in Georgetown is under way, and it’s a whirlwind of activity at Posh as we pull together the elements of our room. We’re decorating the Bride’s Room, an upstairs bedroom that serves as the dressing area for the bridal party when weddings are held at the house. The room has large windows and a corner fireplace. None of the furniture in the room worked for our concept, so we started from scratch. New furnishings, bedding, window treatments and lighting all had to be either found or made in our workroom.
We began with our color concept board, using a gorgeous fabric for inspiration. Wouldn’t you love to see it? We’d love to show it to you, but it’s a secret! We can’t even give you a sneak peek before the Showhouse opens. But we promise it will be colorful, creative, glamorous, and fresh, and there will be Chinoiserie.
The Showhouse opens October 13 for two weeks. It’s a great day out – head to Georgetown, tour the Showhouse, have some lunch in one the of town’s fine eateries, and be giving to a good cause too.The house itself dates to 1791, and there are 12 participating designers, so there will be lots to see.
